Why the Juniper-Lenovo Agreement is Good for the China Channel

On August 23, Juniper Networks announced that we signed a new agreement with systems provider Lenovo, under which Lenovo will facilitate distribution of Juniper networking products on a standalone basis or together with Lenovo’s products in China. This agreement follows the global strategic relationship we announced with Lenovo in March 2016 to deliver next-generation data center infrastructure solutions for enterprise and web-scale customers. This announcement builds on our regional alliance with Lenovo and we do not expect it to impact our other partner relationships.


Let’s take a look at why this is good news for Juniper’s channel partners in the China region.



Network traffic growth and cloud adoption continues to escalate in China. Customers will need new architectural approaches and new network infrastructure upgrades across their networks, data centers and branch offices to increase agility and drive down operational costs. Lenovo’s reach in China is expected to bring Juniper Networks’ technology via our partners into thousands of mid and large enterprises, as well as China service providers and Web 2.0 companies.


Juniper is an ideal company for Lenovo to collaborate with to offer network innovation to customers in China. Lenovo’s leadership in x86 systems and Juniper’s leadership in routers, switches, network management software, network security products and software-defined networking technology gives partners the technology edge they need to help customers build their next generation networks.


Additionally, we believe the market opportunity in China for networking is growing and is estimated to continue to grow. With infrastructure in the region developing at an unprecedented pace, along with the incredible size of the market, it’s a region where we see great potential and opportunity for ongoing innovation. We believe this means greater opportunities for our customer base.


Juniper’s goal is to help to manage our China customers’ journeys to the cloud as simply as possible and we believe our agreement with Lenovo will help us reach this goal.
