Between policing and shaping which is executed first?

‎11-11-2018 05:00 AM

Hi

Please help me clear this up

When you have an egress shaping-rate as well as an output policer configured under the same interface, that is if traffic shaping and output policer are on same interface, which one takes precedence?

Thanks

First output policing and then shaping. Please refer the URLs for more details about CoS packet flow process:

Hi Nellikka

Thanks for the url, why do we police first on egress? The shaper is supposed to help keep the traffic in line by buffering the excessive packets then why do we perform policing which will drop the packets before we try to shape them
