Can I safely remove /var/log/dhcp_logfile ?

Bonjour all,

Some of my EX2300-C switches are giving me the following minor alarm

 show chassis alarms
1 alarms currently active
Alarm time Class Description
2019-11-04 15:35:35 EST Minor RE 0 /var partition usage is high

when comparing 2 switches  I noticed a difference in size  in the var/log/dhcp_logfile between switch A that does not show the Alarm and switch B that does

SWITCH A

ls -lhS /var/log
total 12344
-rw-r----- 1 root wheel 2.2M Nov 5 13:54 dhcp_logfile
-rw-r----- 1 root wheel 1.7M Nov 4 15:28 chassisd_snmp
-rw-r----- 1 root wheel 771K Nov 4 15:26 dhcp_logfile.0.gz

vs SWITCH B

:0% ls -lhS /var/log
total 23096
-rw-r----- 1 root wheel 5.2M Nov 5 13:54 dhcp_logfile
-rw-r----- 1 root wheel 2.8M Nov 5 14:01 chassisd
-rw-r----- 1 root wheel 1.7M Nov 4 15:29 chassisd_snmp
-rw-r----- 1 root wheel 716K Nov 4 15:31 dcd
-rw-rw---- 1 root wheel 376K Nov 5 14:00 messages

Can I safely remove this log file from the B switch and see if that resolve the alarm ?

Merci beaucuop,

Michel Lapointe

bonjour egarro,

there sure is a lot of dhcp traceoptions for a switch that I gave a fix address ! probably remnants of the original configuration.

root@csla-taschereau-01-BYPASS> show configuration |display set | match trac
set system processes dhcp-service traceoptions file dhcp_logfile
set system processes dhcp-service traceoptions file size 10m
set system processes dhcp-service traceoptions level all
set system processes dhcp-service traceoptions flag all

so you think I can get rid of them ?

It looks like default traceoptions which log DHCP events. They can be deleted without any impact, as well as removing the files inside the /var/log/

 "delete system processes dhcp-service traceoptions"
