Cannot commit Synchronize from re1 to re0

  • 1.  Cannot commit Synchronize from re1 to re0

    Posted 12-17-2018 19:29

    Hi,

I'm not able to commit synchronize from re1 to re0.

re0 is a new RE we got as a RMA.

I'm getting this error when trying to commit sync

    re1# commit synchronize
    re1:
    configuration check succeeds
    re0:
    /var/tmp/juniper.conf+.gz:453:(23) syntax error: tcp-mss
error: remote load-configuration failed on re0

I've tried deleting that file from re0 and again commit synched, but same error.

    Hi,

Kindly match the release in both the release in both the RE.

    Regards,

    Rahul

    Hello,

You'd need identical JUNOS versions on both RE for proper functionality.

GRES and NSR do not work when JUNOS versions are different.

As for Your particular error, "tcp-mss" knob under inteface family is not supported in 13.3R1, it was introduced in 14.2

    https://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/junos/topics/reference/configuration-statement/tcp-mss-edit-system.html

[edit interfaces name unit number family protocol]

Statement introduced in Junos OS Release 14.2 for MX Series routers.

Hence, the RE0 with JUNOS 13.3 has no knowledge of this knob and it duly errors out.

     HTH

    Thx

    Alex

How you're trying copy the file? Are you able to login to RE0?

Kindly login to RE0 and clean the storage

    request routing-engine login other-routing-engine

    request system storage cleanup

From master RE, try to copy the release.

    file copy /var/tmp/junos-install-mx-x86-64-17.3R3.10.tgz re0:/var/tmp

I tried the storage cleanup and file copy. got this message.

re1> file copy /var/home/remote/jinstall-ppc-16.2R2.8-signed.tgz re0:/var/tmp rshd: Login incorrect. error: put-file failed error: could not send local copy of file

Is GRES/NSR disabled? If yes, kindly login to backup RE and set the root password same as Primary RE and then try to copy the file.

    Hello,

Then You can drop to RE shell and use "sftp -JU __juniper_private1__ . . ." utility. Contact JTAC for assistance if You unsure how to do that.

Otherwise insert USB drive into RE1, mount it, copy .TGZ file from RE1 to a USB drive, unmount it, insert same USB drive into RE1, copy .TGZ to HDD and then  do install. Again contact JTAC for exact commands You need to issue on every step if You are doing it for the 1st time.

    Thx

This would require a commit and he cannot commit in the 1st place.

@salilshete - You need to copy file /var/db/scripts/event//Master-policy-events.slax from RE0 to RE1 into /var/db/scripts/event/ directory. You are likely to need root permissions to do that. And once file is copied, then commit.
