Hi, Is there a way for me to find out which PFE an interface is connected to in a Juniper Networks router? Thanks, P

 Are you referring to which logical interface? Could you also indicate the platform you are using?

Platform: PTX10001

Hi Pluu,

PTX10001 is a single PFE system, that means all the interface are mapped to PFE0.

Do you know the command to determine which PFE has which interface ports? I did 'show pfe id info', and it shows 3 active PFEs; though the first Active PFE is 0.

I think you should see the PFE in Chip/Asic column

Yes, I think 'show mtip-mac summary' is the correct command to figure out what port is connected to what PFE.
Output is below, please let me know if my interpretation is correct.

 

Ports 1-12   (indicated by Index column) connects to PFE 0 (indicated by PECHIP column)

Ports 13-24 (indicated by Index column) connects to PFE 1 (indicated by PECHIP column)

Ports 25-36 (indicated by Index column) connects to PFE 2 (indicated by PECHIP column)

Why is port being called Index?

Yes your interpretation is correct regarding port to pfe mapping. Why its called index only a developer can answer 🙂

It's physical interface, not logical interface.

Hi,

maybe you can do something with the (a bit postprocessed) output from "show pfe next-hop" when filtering for your in use interface types (ether?!). Atm. I don't have a representative system at hand to try though.
