Hi everyone.

On MX 5, we can create shapers ( focusing only shaper portion)

1) Set class-of-service interface ge -0/0/0 shaping-rate 10m

or

2) set class -of service interfae ge -0/0/0 output -traffic-control-profile LEE

set class-of service traffi-control-profile LEE  shaping-rate 10m

Are both options equivalent as far shaper is conerned ? Put simply will both options will result in ge-0/0/0 shape its egress traffic to 10M?

Thanks and have a nice weekend!!

Hi,

Basically, traffic-control-profiles are used for Gigabit Ethernet IQ, Channelized IQ PICs, FRF.15 and FRF.16LSQ interfaces, Enhanced Queuing (EQ) DPCs, and PTX Series routers to configure traffic shaping and scheduling profiles.
