PPPoE Sticky Address Assignment

‎01-04-2019 02:58 PM

If a PPPoE subscriber drops offline and then reauthenticates within a short period of time (say 60 seconds), is there any option in JunOS to give that subscriber the same IP they had prior to the drop?  The idea is to give customers a somewhat consistent IP address so long as they aren't offline for too long at which time their original IP would then be released to the pool.  Basically a hold-down timer for a dynamic pool IP address so that the subscriber has the ability to get it back if they reauth before hold down expires.

Thanks.

We use that for customer's that request a static IP address, however for the majority of customers dynamic is fine and we really don't care what IP they get nor do we want to have to manage/keep track of all those assignments.

Just curious if the Juniper BNG has a feature to try and give the same customer the same IP.  Under access address-assignment, there is "address-preservation" but there is very little documentation on that config item and it seems its just for v6 PD.
