Unable to remove a demux interface

Hi guys,

I've got a demux interface that has been stuck for a while now: demux0.1073858791

marijn@ams-nik-er3# run show interfaces demux0.1073858791
Logical interface demux0.1073858791 (Index 730) (SNMP ifIndex 47523)
    Flags: Up SNMP-Traps 0x0 VLAN-Tag [ 0x8100.1460 ] Encapsulation: ENET2
    Demux: Source Family Inet
    Demux:
      Underlying interface: xe-0/0/3 (Index 145)
    Input packets : 101347
    Output packets: 1
    Protocol inet, MTU: 1578
      Flags: Sendbcast-pkt-to-re, Unnumbered
      Donor interface: lo0.0 (Index 322)
      Preferred source address: xxxxxxxx
Addresses, Flags: Primary Preferred Is-Default Is-Primary
        Local: xxxxxxxx
    Protocol inet6, MTU: 1578
      Flags: Unnumbered
      Donor interface: lo0.0 (Index 322)
      Preferred source address: xxxxxxxxx
      Addresses, Flags: Preferred
        Local: fe80::200:5:b400:0
    Protocol pppoe
      Dynamic Profile: PPPoE-SUBSCRIBER,
      Service Name Table: None,
Max Sessions: 32000, Max Sessions VSA Ignore: Off,
Duplicate Protection: On, Short Cycle Protection: Off,
      Direct Connect: Off,
      AC Name: ams-nik-er3

This interface is not active in subscriber management anymore:

marijn@ams-nik-er3# run show subscribers interface demux0.1073858791
Total subscribers: 0, Active Subscribers: 0

And it is not removable in any way:

marijn@ams-nik-er3> clear auto-configuration interfaces demux0.1073858791
error: No interface session for logical interface demux0.1073858791, session 232081552

marijn@ams-nik-er3> dynamic-configuration session delete session-id 232081552
Failed to delete , reason: internal error: session not found during the lookup or read, or caller requested attribute is not found

I'm unable to use this VLAN interface now and there is no option at our last-mile provider to change it to a different one.

What else can I try?

Hi,

The interface appears to be staled.

I see you have tried to clear the session using "dynamic-configuration session delete session-id <id> CMD.

I would strictly suggest NOT use this knob in future, it can dismap the binding in SBD and leave stale entries.

There are other knob to gracefully clear subscriber session.

At this point, you don't have much options. May i know whats the JunOS version you're running?

Have you tried restart autoconfd? If not, try restarting it using the following knob:

#restart auto-configuration

What version of code are you running ??

Depending on the code we can try restarting some daemons to see if it helps.

Hi guys,

Version:

beelze@ams-nik-er3> show version

Hostname: ams-nik-er3

Model: mx80

Junos: 14.2R7-S9

We know that this version is not supported for subscriber management and we are working towards a newer version.

But restarting some daemons could help us.

Restarting the auto-configuration process did not remove the demux interface.

Good that you're aware of the version you're running is not qualified for subscriber mgmt.

After you restarted autoconfd, did you try to clear interface?

clear auto-configuration interfaces demux0.1073858791

If that too didn't help, next step would be to restart interface daemon (dcd) and see how it goes..

Hi Karand,

Yeah, I have tried removing the interface (the session ID is now 0, it was a large number):

beelze@ams-nik-er3> clear auto-configuration interfaces demux0.1073858791

error: No interface session for logical interface demux0.1073858791, session 0

I have never issued the "restart interface-control" command.

Does this affect existing subscribers or anything else?

Looks like the session clear after the autoconfd restart. and requires dcd restart to possibly clear that stated demux.

Theoretically dcd restart shouldn't existing subscriber but I would suggest that performed a dcd restart activity in planned window.
