ping inet6 traffic class

‎04-19-2019 04:36 PM

hi experts,

how can i set the traffic class with the ping command to inet6 destination?  using the tos option to a inet6 destination doesn't set the traffic class and there isn't a traffic class option.  using the tos option to inet destination sets the tos byte (yay).

i would like to set the field in red below with junos ping command to inet6 destination.

01:09:06.466229 In IP6 (class 0xc0, hlim 255, next-header: ICMPv6

thanks in advance!!

Hi a_double-old,

The same ping option works for ipv6 too, worked for me:

54:4b:8c:3b:7f:03 > ec:3e:f7:94:27:c3, ethertype IPv6 (0x86dd), length 70: (class 0x38, hlim 64, next-header: ICMPv6 (58), length: 16) 2001:dead:beef::1 > 2001:dead:beef::2: [icmp6 sum ok] ICMP6, echo reply, seq 9

What's your product and Junos version? Please ensure there's no cosmetic mistake and we're checking the right packet on "monitor traffic interface" Smiley Tongue.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

-r.
