Need help with Junosphere configuration

‎12-12-2014 12:48 PM

Hello, I'm new here and also just started to work with Juniper MX series for my study.

I have to create test Topology which will use 3 Juniper MX80s and 2 Spirent test centers to test it.

This is a created topology.

[SPR0] ----- ge-0/0/0 [VMX0] ge-0/0/1 ----- ge-0/0/0 [VMX1] ge-0/0/1 ----- ge-0/0/0 [VMX2] ge-0/0/1 ----- [SPR1]

I configure 3 VLAN IDs on each VMX. 100,200 and 300

These 3 VLANs goal is to isolate traffic from 3 services and later will be configure with CoS

Each VLAN will configure with different priority

100 is use for realtime/high pakcet

200 is use for medium priority packet

and 300 is use for low priority packet

This is my setting on each router for VLAN configuration

Interface configuration

set interfaces ge-0/0/0 vlan-tagging

set interfaces ge-0/0/0 unit 100 family bridge interface-mode trunk vlan-id-list 100

set interfaces ge-0/0/0 unit 200 family bridge interface-mode trunk vlan-id-list 200

set interfaces ge-0/0/0 unit 300 family bridge interface-mode trunk vlan-id-list 300

set interfaces ge-0/0/1 vlan-tagging set interfaces ge-0/0/1 unit 100 family bridge interface-mode trunk vlan-id-list 100 set interfaces ge-0/0/1 unit 200 family bridge interface-mode trunk vlan-id-list 200 set interfaces ge-0/0/1 unit 300 family bridge interface-mode trunk vlan-id-list 300

Routing instance

set routing-instances SLICE-I instance-type virtual-switch

set routing-instances SLICE-I interface ge-0/0/0.100

set routing-instances SLICE-I interface ge-0/0/1.100

set routing-instances SLICE-I bridge-domains vlan-100 vlan-id 100

set routing-instances SLICE-II instance-type virtual-switch

set routing-instances SLICE-II interface ge-0/0/0.200

set routing-instances SLICE-II interface ge-0/0/1.200

set routing-instances SLICE-II bridge-domains vlan-200 vlan-id 200

set routing-instances SLICE-III instance-type virtual-switch

set routing-instances SLICE-III interface ge-0/0/0.300

set routing-instances SLICE-III interface ge-0/0/1.300

set routing-instances SLICE-III bridge-domains vlan-300 vlan-id 300

I'm be able to commit this configuration but still have no idea how to verify if this configuration work or not

I tried to test with spirent test center(SPR) which I never use it before but no luck ...

I would like to ask for some assistance to guide me with VMX and SPR

1. I would like to verify if VLAN configuration work properly ( isolate traffic , host on different VLAN cant see each other etc.) is my configuration correct ?

2.I will deploy CoS configuration later , What I need to measure is packet latency for each VLAN. As I googled for QoS test method for Spirent Test Center, there are not many document available until I found "The Definitive Guide to Quality of Service (QoS) Testing". I still don't know how to measure latency using L2 test method , So I decied to go with IRB and no success (What I understand is IRB allow host to talk cross VLAN , am I right?) If I want to create L3 what configuration should it be? (some people told me to configure VRF , but I still have no idea about it.)

My network knowledge are still beginner , I appriciate any suggestion and I'm apologize for my poor language.
