Where to find the firewalls logs on NSM through SSH ?

‎01-09-2009 01:45 AM

Hi,

I've been using the NSM for about half a year now and need a faster way than the GUI to get to the firewall log files.

So I logged in over SSH with root access.

Can somebody point me to the right (like as in /var/log) path where I can find the logs of a specific firewall, so I can pull them from there for analyzing ?

Thanks much, Raymond

Hi Raymond,

the traffic logs (which i assume you are looking for) are stored in postgres, so they are not directly accessible.

The guiClient has them pulled through the guiSvrManager process from the devSvr process (via devSvrProfilerMgr process).

So I am afraid there is no easy way to poll this data manually.

Kind regards

Colin

Raymond,

Another option that you can use would be log2action. Using this, you can configure to write all the logs into a text file on your server & thereby view them.

Thanks,
Chandra
