Time to learn some network automation and coding?

‎03-31-2020 08:36 AM

Hello everyone,

The present situation requires most of us to stay home, and while we stay, it is important to keep both physycally and mentally active. A great thing for mental activity is to learn something new, and for those who do networking I suggest to learn some coding and automation techniques. If you haven't done this yet, now is the time! Remember most of these skills are both highly demanded and rather transferable.

So here are several completely FREE options from Juniper that I recommend to check out for learning automation, in sequence:

  1. JNCIA-DevOps Juniper Open Learning course (knowledge equivalent to 3 days of real ILT class). Requires registration on Junos Genius but otherwise free of charge.
  2. NRE labs allow you to learn automation by doing it (via labs accessible directly in your browser).
  3. Day One books, in partucular "Automating with Junos Bundle" (5 books).

Additionally, if you want to build your local Junos/Automation lab, you can use Free vSRX trial.

If you have more links or ideas, feel free to share in this thread!

Best Regards,
PK

Good thinking Peter.

Now that the rush for RA VPN setup is gone we are looking at projects/things to do while we put an unofficial change freeze in during lockdown.

The most recent Ambassador cookbook has some greate recipes to do with automation also
