1G on the Line Card 32x10GE MPC4E

‎06-20-2017 10:41 PM

Quick one.

This MX LIne Card:

32x10GE MPC4E ,

Is it possible to do 1GE Optics on it? Is it felxible, or only accepts 10GE.

- On the same note: Is there a card that has approximately 20 ports that can allow me the flexibility of either 1/10GE on same Line Card?

As far i know you can't do it on MPC4E, possible with Multi-rate MPC7E but don't think they can do 1/10G , they are higher bandwidth ports. Your best option would be MPC3E with 10x10G MIC and 20x1G MIC but static ports

I guess this is the best option I have. Will need to check the price differences, Because apparently Cisco have something .. i.e A9k-24xGE-1G-TR  , which can do both 1/10GE .

Depending on the features you need, the ACX5048 may be a good fit.  These ports are either GE or XE and you only need to license the number of XE that you use.
