CTP 2056 w/serial card question

‎11-11-2019 12:39 PM

Does anyone here know if the CTP2056 w/serial card has the ability to dynamically sense data rate changes on a single serial channel? We have a system that can go from 2 - 24K depending on the requirements and want to be able to make this change without having to continually configure both CTP devices with the new data rates each time it changes.

I'd appreciate any input on this, the support documentation on the CTPs is sparse at best!

Hi Butchie_t,

Yes this should be achievable on the newer releases with the "Autobaud" feature. Here's some documentation explaining this:

https://www.juniper.net/assets/us/en/local/pdf/datasheets/1000139-en.pdf
Autobaud - The input timing leads are monitored, and the circuit rate is automatically changed at both ends of the network if a rate change is detected.

https://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/ctp7.2/topics/task/configuration/ctp-bundle-custom-clock...
Autobaud-This setting enables the monitoring of OAM packets for the terminal timing (TT) frequency at the other end and processing to accommodate frequency changes that are detected.

https://www.juniper.net/documentation/hardware/ctp/ctp45x/sw-hw-ctp-rn.pdf
Adaptive/Autobaud single tick adjustments-Enhancements have been made to the Adaptive/Autobaud algorithms to provide better support for low-speed circuits.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
-r.
