How do I disable BGP fast external failover? Can I disable on a per-neighbor basis?

In Cisco IOS use "no bgp fast-external-fallover" command.

https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/138556/bgp-fast-external-fallover-command-overview

JUNOS does not have "BGP fast external failover" concept and You cannot disable L3-interface-based BGP session teardown in case that interface goes down with a single command.

You have to either use loopback multihop peering, IRB peering, or peer with eBGP neighbor through a L2 switch.

Hope this makes sense.

Thx
Alex

Hello,

If it is JunosE then the no version disables automatic session termination.

Syntax

[ no ] bgp fast-external-fallover

Below is the Juniper Document:

https://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/junose14.2/topics/reference/command-summary/bgp-fast-ext...

Rahul

If there's no such concerpt in junos, what's the behavioru of EBGP session in terms of link failure deteced ?

One more question, does junos has concept of bgp nexthop tracking like Cisco? If not, what's the behaviou in junos ? Thanks

you may configure BFD for fast failure detection for link or next-hop failure..

However, it needs to be configured on both ends..

Read folloiwng fyr..

Of course I know BFD can be used for fast failure detection. But I wanted to understand what's the default behaviour on Junos regarding the questions I have asked. Thanks anyway.
