External Route Summarization - Type-5 LSA's

Hi All,

 

Need to summarize type-5 LSA's. Tried to do it using area-range command(in ABR and ASBR as well), but result negative.

 

Scenario:

MX1(area-0) ----- (area-0) MX2 (area-1) ----- (area-1)MX3

 

MX3 - ASBR (Redistributing from BGP to OSPF)

Config:
set protocols ospf export Redistribute-To-OSPF-Domain
set protocols ospf area 0.0.0.1 interface ge-0/0/0.61 interface-type p2p
set protocols ospf area 0.0.0.1 interface ge-0/0/0.61 hello-interval 5
set protocols ospf area 0.0.0.1 interface ge-0/0/0.61 dead-interval 20
set protocols ospf area 0.0.0.1 interface ge-0/0/0.61 authentication simple-password "$9$oeZDk5Qnp0I.P0IEcvMaZU"

 


set policy-options policy-statement Redistribute-To-OSPF-Domain term Static_Routes from protocol BGP

//With prefix-list-filter matching routes..

set policy-options policy-statement Redistribute-To-OSPF-Domain term Static_Routes then accept
set policy-options policy-statement Redistribute-To-OSPF-Domain term default then reject

 

 

MX2 - ABR

Config:

set protocols ospf area 0.0.0.0 interface ge-0/0/0.51 interface-type p2p
set protocols ospf area 0.0.0.1 interface ge-0/0/0.61 interface-type p2p
set protocols ospf area 0.0.0.1 interface ge-0/0/0.61 hello-interval 5
set protocols ospf area 0.0.0.1 interface ge-0/0/0.61 dead-interval 20
set protocols ospf area 0.0.0.1 interface ge-0/0/0.61 authentication simple-password "$9$OE.sIhrWLNYgJevgJGDmPBIE"

 

Please let me know how to do it.

 

In Cisco this can be done in ASBR using "summary-address" command I think..

I'm not sure but I'm afraid this is not possible directly. Two indirect solutios that come to mind are:

 

Solution 1:
On ASBR create aggregate route and redistribute it to OSPF instead of static routes.

Solution 2:
Change area type to NSSA and summarize LSAs Type 7
MX2#set protocols ospf area 1 nssa area-range x.x.x.x/yy
