How to configure VRF using routing-instance virtual router on MX

[ Edited ]

Hi there!

I wonder how to configure VRF(Virtual Routing and Forwarding) using 'routing-instance virtual router' in general situations, not in VPN situations on MX.

That is, how do I separate one physical interface into multiple logical interfaces using 'routing-instance virtual router'.

When I looked the content up, it was to set 'vlan-tagging' on the physical interface and then set 'vlan-id' on the logical interface unit.

However I would not like to add VLAN tag-id to frames.

Is there any other way?

Could you please advise me the page with this content?

Or could you please advise me more about this?

Thank you for reading me.

Best Regards,

Seunghyun Lee

So, basically on MX platform You want to sort traffic into different routing instances based on IP header fields, right?

Sorting traffiic into different routing instances based on MAC address is not supported.

Thx

Try if this is what you want

set interfaces ge-1/0/0 flexible-vlan-tagging
set interfaces ge-1/0/0 encapsulation flexible-ethernet-services
set interfaces ge-1/0/0 unit 100 vlan-id 100
set interfaces ge-1/0/0 unit 100 family inet address 100.0.0.1/24
set interfaces ge-1/0/0 unit 200 vlan-id 200
set interfaces ge-1/0/0 unit 200 family inet address 200.0.0.1/24
set routing-instances r1 interface ge-1/0/0.100
set routing-instances r1 instance-type virtual-router
set routing-instances r2 interface ge-1/0/0.200
set routing-instances r2 instance-type virtual-router
