  • 1.  Layer 2 - Switch Ports on MX80 ?

    Hi,

Assuming I am setting up a new MPLS POP (point of presence) - Will I be correct to say that, the availble 20 X 1GE MIC card placed on an MX80 can be used for provisioning "customer attachment circuits" , so that I do not need an extra Switch Device?

Can I have my customers directly connect to the MX  in Layer 2 ? Without need to terminate the circuits on a switch first, then onto the Router?

A little new to SP set-ups, so please share any wisdom and knowledge.

You can directly connect customer circuits to the MX ports, there is no need for another device.

In the MX you can mix mpls ports and other types of configurations like CCC, l2circuit, VPLS or directly layer 2 access or trunk port in an IRB on the same device.
