Logical-Systems Management SNMP

‎06-11-2010 01:03 PM

Dear friends,

I have a router model M10i Junos 9.6R1.13 running and is working with
three-logical systems (LS1, LS2 and LS3), I need to manage all logical
systems using SNMP, the best way?

I am using the command:

set snmp community <name-community> logical-system <name-system>

In addition to this command that is needed?

Thanks,
Gabriel Farias

Hello Gabriel,

please look at following docs:

http://www.juniper.net/techpubs/en_US/junos9.6/information-products/topic-collections/config-guide-n...

http://www.juniper.net/techpubs/en_US/junos9.6/information-products/topic-collections/config-guide-n...

or just all topics:

http://www.juniper.net/techpubs/en_US/junos9.6/information-products/topic-collections/config-guide-n...

What you would like to achieve ? Getting LR(LS) specific info with SNMP ?

Example.  With following LR and SNMP config one can get the SNMP data for specific LR(LS) and/or routing instances

....

[edit]
user@o2# show snmp | display set
set snmp community RO authorization read-only

[edit]
user@o2# show logical-routers r21 interfaces | display set
set logical-routers r21 interfaces fxp1 unit 212 vlan-id 212
set logical-routers r21 interfaces fxp1 unit 212 family inet address 10.2.12.21/24
set logical-routers r21 interfaces fxp1 unit 215 vlan-id 215
set logical-routers r21 interfaces fxp1 unit 215 family inet address 10.2.15.21/24
set logical-routers r21 interfaces fxp1 unit 218 vlan-id 218
set logical-routers r21 interfaces fxp1 unit 218 family inet address 10.2.18.21/24
set logical-routers r21 interfaces lo0 unit 21 family inet address 10.0.21.0/32

[edit]
user@o2# show logical-routers r22 interfaces | display set
set logical-routers r22 interfaces fxp1 unit 223 vlan-id 223
set logical-routers r22 interfaces fxp1 unit 223 family inet address 10.2.23.22/24
set logical-routers r22 interfaces fxp1 unit 224 vlan-id 224
set logical-routers r22 interfaces fxp1 unit 224 family inet address 10.2.24.22/24
set logical-routers r22 interfaces fxp2 unit 212 vlan-id 212
set logical-routers r22 interfaces fxp2 unit 212 family inet address 10.2.12.22/24
set logical-routers r22 interfaces lo0 unit 22 family inet address 10.0.22.0/32

... with some crafted community string (SNMP v1/2c):

nms:~# snmpwalk -c "r22/default@RO21" -v2c x.x.x.x ifName
IF-MIB::ifName.2 = STRING: fxp1
IF-MIB::ifName.3 = STRING: fxp2
IF-MIB::ifName.6 = STRING: lo0
IF-MIB::ifName.24 = STRING: fxp1.223
IF-MIB::ifName.25 = STRING: fxp1.224
IF-MIB::ifName.35 = STRING: fxp2.212
IF-MIB::ifName.53 = STRING: lo0.22

nms:~# snmpwalk -c "r21/default@RO21" -v2c x.x.x.x ifName
IF-MIB::ifName.2 = STRING: fxp1
IF-MIB::ifName.6 = STRING: lo0
IF-MIB::ifName.21 = STRING: fxp1.212
IF-MIB::ifName.22 = STRING: fxp1.215
IF-MIB::ifName.23 = STRING: fxp1.218
IF-MIB::ifName.52 = STRING: lo0.21

Does it help a bit ?

Jitb,

what I need is to manage, for example, falls of interfaces, messaging protocols variation (up / down) and so through the snmp community read-only.

How we do that when LS or LR? , Configured systems that are considered intependentes.

I can not see this example and the links sent in the form of a set of LS or LR.

Thanks,

Gabriel Farias

Jitp,

I used the following configuration, but I'm having error and the server database can not read the information via snmp.

Do you have any hint of what is happening?

thanks
