Minimum Power Requirment for MX480

‎01-29-2013 01:53 PM

I have some MX480's that I am trying to test, and I am currently only able to provide power for one of the power supplies. If I hook up power to PEM0 or PEM2. I am able to get the system to power on and boot up. However I can not get the the DPCE 40x 1GE R to show up when I do a show chassis hardware. Is the reason why it is not showing up is do to the chassis being under powered, or is it that the slot that the card is in needs to turned up?

Any help would be outstanding

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Michael,

What other modules do you have in the box. Please check the below links which provides detailed information on power requirements for each of the module.

For a MX480, the minimum requirement is 2 power supplies for 240V or 3 for 110V.

"For an AC-powered chassis, there is one overall zone. Two AC power supplies are mandatory for high-line, and three AC power supplies are mandatory for low-line power."

You might be able to get away with 1 power supply if you can use DC as it operates in "zones".
