QOS over L2VPN

‎05-12-2020 04:22 AM

Hello ,

while i'm receiving IP traffic from  source then forwarded to specific class of service as this traffic is critical , to reach our distination we are passing through L2VPN connection , i can see QOS dosn't take effect . so if i have a congestion i can see impact with this critical traffic .

note : ccc encapsulation used topology.png
so i need to understand more how QOS handled with MPLS L2VPN .

I presume You are familiar with JUNOS QoS/COS concepts like classifiers, forwarding-classes, schedulers, scheduler-maps, rewrite rules?

I also presume this is Ethernet L2VN, correct?

If yes+yes then the answer to Your question is that on Access Circuit/AC, the L2VPN QoS is handled with IEEE 802.1p bits, in the MPLS core the L2VPN CoS is handled with MPLS Traffic Class a.k.a. EXP bits.

If no, then please have a look at this webpage for JUNOS CoS definitions  https://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/junos/topics/reference/general/cos-junos-os-component-se...  and then on this webpage for JUNOS CoS processing sequence https://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/junos/topics/reference/general/cos-component-packet-flow...

HTH

Thx

Alex
