SNMP average packet size assistance

I need to retrieve the average packet size on an interface via SNMP can someone please guide me as to what OID to target?

Also with max and min as well if that is obtainable.

Hi

 

Can you at least specify the platform you are using, because the answer

may be hardware dependant. Some platforms do track packet size distributions,

see for example this blog

But I'm not sure if this is obtainable via SNMP.

Try the following (I did a match with a particular SNMP ifIndex)

etherStatsCollisions.523 = 0
etherStatsPkts64Octets.523 = 2
etherStatsPkts65to127Octets.523 = 5
etherStatsPkts128to255Octets.523 = 0
etherStatsPkts256to511Octets.523 = 0
etherStatsPkts512to1023Octets.523 = 0

If you really want average, you will need co calculate it somehow yourself (approximately) with

these data.
