# set routing-options static route 1.1.1.1 next-hop 30.30.30.30 resolve
What is the meaning of "resolve" , does it resolve the arp of the next hop address & mark the route down if the arp is not resolved ?
Resolve allows the box to perform a recursive lookup to locate the physical next hop for that route.
Thanks Can you give me an example
When you use the resolve option you can specify any known IP address that exists in the network. The router does a lookup against the inet.0 routing table to determine what the physical next hop should be to get to IP specified in the static next-hop statement and routes accordingly.
Do you mean that my next hop can be not directly connected & the routing table will be used to resolve this next hop ?
That is correct
