automatically send bgp updates/notifications to emails

Hi,

I need assistance. I want to know immediately when my bgp peer fails. Can this be automated through Junos e.g by sending it to my mail instead of logging into my Juniper router to find out

JUNOS logging does not offer any way to directly email. The easiest way to do this is to send your event messages to an external syslog processor which can then parse and email as appropriate.

Thanks for the quick response muttbarker, how do i send the event messages to the syslog server. How about monitoring the bgp notifications remotely without logging into the router

To push log information to a syslog server you specify the server and the desired log information.

set system syslog host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

You can the specify the log file(s) and severity level(s) of the messages you want pushed to your syslog.
