Hello Arix,

So the log was generated (SNMP trap generated: FRU power off) indicating one of the Field Replaceable Unit, i mean which can be removed and replaced was powered off. Here the part is jnxFruName PIC: MS-MIC-16G @ 0/2/* MIC on FPC 0 and the reason is jnxFruOfflineReason 8 indicating offlined due to power button.

Links: What does jnxFruOfflineReason mean in the chassisd_snmp_trap10 message?

Example for MX 960 FRU's https://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/release-independent/junos/topics/concept/mx960-fru-overv...

I am not sure is this list the jnxFruOfflineReason valid for all juniper series or only SRX one?

I can see from the logs there are two reasons and its reasons:... Is that correct?

jnxFruOfflineReason 8    ----------------->>> buttonPress(8), -- offlined by button press
jnxFruOfflineReason 2    --------------->>> none(2), -- none

Arix,

You are right we have a couple of offline reasons here in the logs you shared.
The KB is applicable to Junos should work for your device as well.

And yeah each log for FRU offline will have the FRU name and the offline reason.

Mar 22 14:30:52 CHASSISD_SNMP_TRAP10: SNMP trap generated: FRU power off (jnxFruContentsIndex 20, jnxFruL1Index 1, jnxFruL2Index 2, jnxFruL3Index 0, jnxFruName MIC: MS-MIC-16G @ 0/1/*, jnxFruType 11, jnxFruSlot 0, jnxFruOfflineReason 7, jnxFruLastPowerOff 1293577847, jnxFruLastPowerOn 1293540279)

Here, we have the FRU to be MS-MIC-16G @ 0/1/* and offline reason jnxFruOfflineReason 7,

cliCommand(7), -- offlined by cli command

Hi,

According to the following log, the jnxFruOfflineReason has 2, 7 and 8.... But I disagree the "jnxFruOfflineReason 7" is correct. This is not correct information Junos generated. Because no one did over cli. I checked the interactive-com etc... what cause generats that false info?

        none(2), -- none
        error(3), -- error
        noPower(4), -- no power
configPowerOff(5), -- configured to power off
configHoldInReset(6), -- configured to hold in reset
cliCommand(7), -- offlined by cli command
buttonPress(8), -- offlined by button press

Arix,

Sure, we will verify that reason. I tried this on a lab device, it shows as expected. Could you please verify:

show log messages | match "CHASSISD_SNMP_TRAP10"

Also please share the logs:
1) show log messages
2) show log interactive-commands

lab@ex> request chassis pic offline fpc-slot 0 pic-slot 2
fpc 0 pic 2 offline initiated, use "show chassis fpc pic-status" to verify

lab@ex> show chassis pic fpc-slot 0 pic-slot 2
FPC slot 0, PIC slot 2 information:
State Offline

lab@ex> show log interactive-commands | match "request chassis" | match May | last

Arix,

What is the syslog configuration? I mean for the interactive-command what is the severity-level?

https://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/junos/topics/task/configuration/users-commands-entered-c...

Also check the log messages for any trigger :
show log messages | match OFFLINE

>> to understand the device and version

show version

Please verify if you are running any script to offline FRU for a particular trigger condition.
