    hi all:

    reading junos docs and have a question for flollowing sentance:

    "The route targets configured under multicast VPNs apply only to multicast VPN AD routes of type 1, 2, 3, and 5"

    1) what does this "AD" stand for?

    2) what are those types of 1, 2, 3, and 5?

    thanks

    AD stands for auto-discovery.  These are multicast-vpn nlri route-types.  Below are the definitions, and a link to the draft, where they are defined.

    http://tools.ietf.org/id/draft-ietf-l3vpn-2547bis-mcast-bgp-05.txt

         + 1 - Intra-AS I-PMSI A-D route;
         + 2 - Inter-AS I-PMSI A-D route;
         + 3 - S-PMSI A-D route;
         + 4 - Leaf A-D route;
         + 5 - Source Active A-D route.

    Regards,

    Ben

    Can MVPN take advantage of P2MP LSP?

    If P2MP LSP is in one AS whereas PIM-SM in other AS, can MVPN aleviate need of PIM-SM in the AS whereas P2MP LSP or VPLS is deployed?
