simulate high latency

‎04-01-2020 05:10 AM

Hello all,

i want to simulate the latency from SRX device?  for example:  SRX device  ===> DC, it's 13msc and i want to increase that latency to ~300msec.  it's needed as part of my working project

In order to increase latency, do we've any such commands on srx device? if so, can you please let me know how can i implement it?

all othere suggestions are most welcome Smiley Happy

Regards,

Madhu

Not supported on SRX itself (or any other JNPR kit), sorry.

If You are after free tools, then simulating latency used to be possible on FreeBSD dummynet (looks like it is discontinued and You'd need a really old FreeBSD version for it)  and M0n0wall https://m0n0.ch/wall/index.php  (if You want GUI, but it uses same dummynet under wraps) or but I haven't tested it for ages.

If You have some $$$ to spend, look for IXIA or Spirent products, I believe they sell virtual traffic generators nowadays.

Thx
Alex
