DHCP drop packet on srx

‎12-23-2009 11:53 PM

Hi All,

I've deployed UAC at my customer side using L2 enforcement.

Client connect to the EX switch, running OAC to authenticate and configured dhcp relay agent at srx650 to their DHCP server. SRX as L3 vlan interface.

When i assign some port on EX switch into vlan access, user can get their IP from dhcp server. But when i activate the port to be do1x, sometime user difficult to get their ip.

On srx, i found some drop packet on dhcp relay-statistic. :

root@FW-SRX> show system services dhcp relay-statistics

  Received packets: 49

  Forwarded packets: 40

  Dropped packets: 9

Due to missing interface in relay database: 0

Due to missing matching routing instance: 0

Due to an error during packet read: 0

Due to an error during packet send: 0

Due to invalid server address: 0

Due to missing valid local address: 0

Due to missing route to server/client: 0

root@FW-SRX> show system services dhcp relay-statistics

  Received packets: 64

  Forwarded packets: 52

  Dropped packets: 12

Due to missing interface in relay database: 0

Due to missing matching routing instance: 0

Due to an error during packet read: 0

Due to an error during packet send: 0

Due to invalid server address: 0

Due to missing valid local address: 0

Due to missing route to server/client: 0

root@FW-SRX> show system services dhcp relay-statistics

  Received packets: 64

  Forwarded packets: 52

  Dropped packets: 12

Due to missing interface in relay database: 0

Due to missing matching routing instance: 0

Due to an error during packet read: 0

Due to an error during packet send: 0

Due to invalid server address: 0

Due to missing valid local address: 0

Due to missing route to server/client: 0

root@FW-SRX> show system services dhcp relay-statistics

  Received packets: 84

  Forwarded packets: 67

  Dropped packets: 17

Due to missing interface in relay database: 0

Due to missing matching routing instance: 0

Due to an error during packet read: 0

Due to an error during packet send: 0

Due to invalid server address: 0

Due to missing valid local address: 0

Hi Raheel,

thanks to respond my question.

I'll contact JTac today.

Because when i used SSG550M as L3 vlan interface and dhcp relay agent, everything is running smooth.

thanks
