Help configuring L2TP Connection on Juniper SRX5600

Hi,

Basically we have this test setup:

LAPTOP ------ INTERNET ------ SRX5600  -------- Server Farm

What we needed is to establish a VPN connection from the laptop to the SRX5600. By specifications, SRX5600 has the ability to do L2TP. Since I'm new with the setup, I'm baffled on how to configure it. I want to know what would be the basic setup for L2TP to pass through the SRX5600 would that be possible? And also, is there a difference between an L2TP and L2TP over IPSEC and which works for the SRX5600?

Your help will be much appreciated.

Thank you.

I believe that the SRX series only supports L2TP Passthru. The SRX branch(SRX100,SRX2xx,SRX650) devices support Dynamic VPN which is IPsec without L2TP. I can't see anything on the feature support sheet that mentions L2TP support.

SRX cannot terminate L2TP tunnels. SRX can terminate IPSec tunnels though. On SRX5600 you can use IPSec client such as JUNOS pulse or NetScreen Remote.
