How can I use 2 WAN (ADSL+VDSL) links at once?

Daft question coming up!

I have a site with an SRX320 and 2 Mini-PIMs, one for ADSL and one for VDSL. When setup, I have the latter as the preferred gateway i.e.

routing-options {
    static {
        route 0.0.0.0/0 {
            next-hop pp0.0;
            qualified-next-hop at-1/0/0.0 {
                preference 25;
            }
        }
    }
}

In this setup, it would seem I can only use one of the WAN links at once i.e. the prefferred one, and the second link seems dormant until it is needed (that is, the VDSL goes down). However, I would like the secondary connection to be available too, so both connections are in an active/active state. There are a couple of reasons for this:-

1) I'd like some traffic to go out via the VDSL connection and other traffic via the ADSL connection

2) I have rules setup against the static IP address of the ADSL WAN connection, which although I could reconfigure, I would like to remain as they are, but at present because this connection seems to only work when the  VDSL goes down, it's not workable.

Here's the interface config:-

    at-1/0/0 {
        encapsulation atm-pvc;
        atm-options {
            vpi 0;
        }
        dsl-options {
            operating-mode auto;
        }
        unit 0 {
            encapsulation atm-ppp-vc-mux;
            vci 0.38;
            ppp-options {
                chap {
                    default-chap-secret "EDITED";
                    local-name "EDITED";
                    passive;
                }
            }
            family inet {
                filter {
                    input VPN-HTTPS;
                }
                address EDITED;
            }
        }
    }
    pt-2/0/0 {
        vlan-tagging;
        mtu 1492;
        vdsl-options {
            vdsl-profile 17a;
        }
        unit 0 {
            encapsulation ppp-over-ether;
            vlan-id 101;
        }
    }
    pp0 {
        unit 0 {
            ppp-options {
                chap {
                    default-chap-secret "EDITED";
                    local-name "EDITED";
                    passive;
                }
            }
            pppoe-options {
                underlying-interface pt-2/0/0.0;
                auto-reconnect 10;
                client;
            }
            family inet {
                filter {
                    input VPN-HTTPS;
                }
                address EDITED;
            }
        }
    }

What very simple and obvious setup/config am I missing?

You can use policy based forwarding to have some traffic go to each ISP based on filter match criteria.  this can be source addresses or ports to split the load.  This kb article shows how to set it up sending one ip range to each of two ISP.

Thank you for your reply as always Steve, it is much appreciated.

It will take me some time to digest and give this a go, but I have one further question: the example shows 2 internal subnets, we have just 1, do I just ignore the Objective 3 parts?

Yes, the example can be adjusted to use any parameters you want.  You could divide your single subnet in half and send half to each side.

You could sort by port/service  or any other parameter you want to use to direct the traffic.
