  • 1.  How to set default outbound system IP

    Posted 06-11-2015 05:29

    Good day,

I'm trying to find a way to set a default outbound IP address for system-generated traffic like syslog or FTP of configurations.  This would be most helpful for SRX appliances that have multiple routes, VPNs, etc.

For instance, if I try to ping a host across a VPN I'm trying to send data to, I get no response.  If I use the -source with a LAN-side IP of the SRX, I am able to ping the host.  I've configured that host to in the syslog system settings of the SRX, but no syslog traffic is reaching that host.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello ,

For that case you can configure the IP that you need for default outbound IP  to the loopback and configure default-address-selection .

    Hello ,

Also for syslog perpose , we can configure a source IP explicitly using :

    #set system syslog source-address <ip>
