but when I tried to implement it as the example indicated, it complained about "encapsulation ethernet " part. I am wondering if that is not suppported in the high end SRX ( SRX3400)? and if so, what is the work around?
I was implementing the same example as it is in the link up. and when I wanted to configure the encapsulation part , I don't see the encapsulation option:

When I forced it and i did commit check, I got this:

a while ago I tried to verify if/since which Junos version SRX supports logical tunnel interfaces. Could not find any good document to verify lt support.
No high end SRX here, no answer to your question. Just idea - logical system are supported with high end SRX since 11.2 and lt interfaces are mentioned explicitly in the release notes. Could you check 11.2 ?
On the high-end SRX, lt-0/0/0.x interfaces are used for the interconnect between LSYS in 11.2+ (from an LSYS to LSYS0); other than LSYS interconnect, they have no supported use on the high-end SRX at this time.
