QoS Question Related: Different Ingress/Egress Bandwidth

‎06-19-2012 09:38 AM

I have a client that use Time Warner's Business Class cable that has 40M down and 10M up.

The CPE is a DOCSIS 3.0 modem (in bridge mode, so just a dummy modem that gives the DOCSIS connection) connected to a SRX100H on fe-0/0/0. 3 ports on the SRX 100H are separated into 3 VLAN each going to a switch connecting 2-3 work stations.

I haven't done any complex QoS before, so I am wondering how you traffic shape the fe-0/0/0 so that it allows 40M download, but shape the egress traffic at 10M.

I know I can use shapping-rate 1000000 for 10M. but will it then also shape my ingress traffic to 10M as well? Any help would be appreciated.

I would like to know the answer to this question as well. Seing as it has been unanswered.
Can anyone shed some light how to set this up correctly? Perhaps with a simple example?
