    Posted 03-26-2020 08:55

    Hi!

    I have SRX550M with the softwarJUNOS 15.1X49-D170.4 built 2019-02-22 22:34:42 UTC

On my configuration I use the following command:

    set routing-instances internet instance-type virtual-router

I want to upgrade it to

    junos-srxsme-18.2R3-S2.9.tgz

    Howerver on this link:

    https://kb.juniper.net/InfoCenter/index?page=content&id=KB21476&actp=METADATA

    there is information:

When upgrading from Junos 15.1X49-D170 to Junos 18.2 releases, the following features will not be available after the upgrade (...)

    • Virtual routing and forwarding instances security features support (SRX300, SRX320, SRX340, SRX345, SRX550M, SRX1500, SRX4100, SRX4200, and vSRX)

Does it mean that my configration

    set routing-instances internet instance-type virtual-router

will not work any more? Can I configure this feature on Junos 18.2 in another way?

As far as I know, instance-type virtual-router is different from instance-type vrf

The documentation talks about "Virtual routing and forwarding instances (vrf)"

The mentioned limitation only apply if you are using Juniper SD-WAN orchestrator named Contrail Service Orchestrator (CSO). virtual-router routing-instances works perfectly fine with Junos 18.2 releases.

Full snippet of the notes from KB21476:

    Spoiler
The following CSO / SD-WAN related features:
    • Application-based multipath support (SRX Series and vSRX)
    • Application quality of experience scaling support (SRX4100, SRX4200)
    • AppQoE support in high availability mode (SRX4100, SRX4200)
    • Application path selection based on link preference and priority (SRX300, SRX320, SRX340, SRX345, SRX550M, SRX1500, SRX4100 SRX4200, and vSRX)
    • Virtual routing and forwarding instances security features support (SRX300, SRX320, SRX340, SRX345, SRX550M, SRX1500, SRX4100, SRX4200, and vSRX)
    • VRF group in L3VPN traffic (SRX Series and vSRX)

    I hope this clarifies.
