    Hi

When I see online blog post about upgrade Junos image, it shows copy .tgz file to the SRX but when i downloaded image from Juniper, it is .tar format. Once I unzipped .tar, it has .tgz file (which is 3.4 MB) and not sure which one that I need to copy to device.

    1) I tried to use .tar pacakage but it doesn't work.

    2) And when I use one of .tgz file, it geneartes below error message

    ERROR: Not a package: /var/tmp/junos-boot-srxsme-12.1X46-D45.4.tgz

    Can someone clarify?

    Thanks

    Hi,

First, the junos-boot-srxsme.tgz file is u-boot file .. you can find explination right here :

    http://kb.juniper.net/InfoCenter/index?page=content&id=KB30427&actp=search

So, If you want to upgrade an SRX100 machine , you go to download center at this link :

    http://www.juniper.net/support/downloads

Then navigate to Downloads> SRX100> Software

Download the fille , let say 12.1X46-D30 ..  you;ll the file goes like this :

    junos-srxsme-12.1X46-D30.2-domestic.tgz

No need to unzip it .. just upload it to the SRX and upgrade .

    Hi Abed,

Thank you for your help but

I see there is two issues.

    1. When I downloaded junos-srxsme-12.1X46-D30.2-domestic.tgz(about 174M) from Juniper, the file name changed to ".tar: format, junos-srxsme-12.1X46-D30.2-domestic.tar once download is completed.

    2. I tried to use either .tgz file - doesn't work.

    3. Then I changed the file name from .tar to .tgz, (junos-srxsme-12.1X46-D30.2-domestic.tgz ) and it sill showing same errror message.(

    ERROR: Missing package: /var/tmp/junos-srxsme-12.1X46-D30.2-domestic.tgz

Your brower is automatically decompressing the file after downloading. Turn this option OFF, redownload junos-srxsme-12.1X46-D40.2-domestic.tgz (this is the recommended version) andmake sure you end up with a .tgz file.
