You can check out the release notes for each JUNOS release to get information on new features added and pr fixes.

From 10.4 some of the key enhancements for high end SRX will be:

Src NAT pool increase from 256->to 1024/2048(3k/5k) in 10.4
Dst NAT pool incrase from 256->to 4096/8192(3k/5k) in 10.4
Session increases of 2.5M/10M->6M/14M (3k/5K) in 10.4
we are increasing vr/zones/(reth) ifl to 2000. 16k is the number of system ifls we support for standalone box. For a chassis cluster we only support 4k system ifls and in 10.4 we are increasing that to 6k. Each reth ifl in a way consumes 3 system ifls therefore the ability to support 2000 (reth) ifl in 10.4.

Do check out the release notes to check status on each and other additions.

Also, For any  future release enhancements/ roadmap info, Kindly reach out to your SE who can supply the information under NDA.

Will any of these session increases be making their way down to the branch SRXs?  I've often wondered why a base single-threaded J2320 supports 64k sessions while it takes a multi-threaded SRX210 with high memory to accomplish the same feat.

Thanks,

The j2320 is a higher class router/firewall than an srx210.

The j2320 is based of an intel processor that is clocked at a high frequency. The srx210 uses dual core processors, however only of these processors is used for forwarding, the other processor is used for control plane activty. Each of these cores is clocked at a much lower frequency compared to the j2320.

A more fair comparison to the j2320 would be the srx240 which is a quad core processor with 3 cores dedicated to forwarding.
