SRX and Virtual Channels

Hello all,

 

Would anyone be able to clarify something for me?

 

When using virtual channels with 2 un-shaped channels, so that they share the bandwidth equally, how do you set the bandwidth of the logical interface?

The reason for the query is that the upstream WAN bandwidth is 20Mbps, but the interface is connected to an ISP "modem" at 1Gbps. Is it as simple as saying "set interfaces ge-0/0/0 unit 0 bandwidth 20m" ?

 

Im guessing it might not be as that just sets the interface speed in the MIB-II "ifspeed" object, however I am hoping that it is just as simple as that.

Hi,

 

In order to set the BW for a logical interface to 20Mpbs you need to set the following commands:

 

On the physical interface: 

 

 

set interfaces [INTERFACE_NAME] per-unit-scheduler

 

Under class-of-service:

 

set class-of-service interfaces [INTERFACE_NAME] unit * per-unit-scheduler 20m

Thanks again for your reply. I don't seem to have the option for "per-unit-scheduler" after entering "set class-of-service interfaces ge-0/0/5 unit *".

The only possible completions I have are:

 

Possible completions:
  adaptive-shaper      Adaptive shaper applied to this logical interface
+ apply-groups         Groups from which to inherit configuration data
+ apply-groups-except  Don't inherit configuration data from these groups
> classifiers          Classifiers applied to incoming packets
  forwarding-class     Forwarding class assigned to incoming packets
> input-traffic-control-profile  Input traffic control profile
> loss-priority-maps   Loss priority maps applied to incoming packets
> output-traffic-control-profile  Output traffic control profile
> rewrite-rules        Rewrite rules applied to outgoing packets
  scheduler-map        Output scheduler map
> shaping-rate         Output shaping rate
  vc-shared-scheduler  Virtual channel group shared scheduler indicator
  virtual-channel-group  Virtual channel group applied to this logical interface
