SRX220 4G Backup

‎05-30-2019 11:36 PM

Hi All

I'm wondering if anyone has configured a 4G backup on a SRX220? If so or if you think you know, what is the best way to do this? This there a card that my client can purchase that can be inserted? (ie use the mini-PIM slots etc).

Thanks

Steven

Hi Steven

I dont think there is a mini-PIM for the SRX220 that will provide you a backup 4G connection, however there is an external Ethernet-based 3G/4G LTE bridge for terminating 3G/4G LTE wireless WAN data for SRX Series, see page 2:

http://www.tecnologika.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/1000291-en.pdf

Also the following document explains how to use it as a backup 4G connection:

I hope this info helps you.

Here is also the datasheet for the bridge:

There is no unified 4G/LTE solution for the SRX220 as both the SRX220 and CX111 are EOL.

CX111 EOL: https://kb.juniper.net/resources/sites/CUSTOMERSERVICE/content/live/TECHNICAL_BULLETINS/16000/TSB166...

SRX220H2 EOL: https://kb.juniper.net/InfoCenter/index?page=content&id=TSB17330&actp=METADATA

You should still be able to do 4G failover with an external LTE router - preferably one which can do briding of the outside WAN IP to the LAN port of the LTE router.

You can then configure rpm probes to initiate failover from primary connection to LTE in cause of failing rpm probes.
