SRX345 and SRX-MP-1VDSL2-R : can't switch to ADSL mode, can't change mac address in VDSL mode

‎01-18-2018 07:50 AM

Hi,

I'm trying to connect to an ADSL/VDSL line using a SRX345 and SRX-MP-1VDSL2-R and i am facing two issues:

1/ the documentation say that the mode (adsl/vdsl) can be switched just by creating the correct named interface in configuration 'at-' or 'pt-', however the following configuration doesn't have any impact:

set interfaces at-4/0/0 encapsulation ethernet-over-atm
set interfaces at-4/0/0 atm-options vpi 8
set interfaces at-4/0/0 dsl-options operating-mode auto
set interfaces at-4/0/0 unit 0 vci 8.36
set interfaces at-4/0/0 unit 0 family inet address xx.xx.xx.xx/24
benoit@fw-1-bzr-1> show interfaces at-4/0/0
error: device at-4/0/0 not found

{primary:node0}
benoit@fw-1-bzr-1> show interfaces pt-4/0/0
Physical interface: pt-4/0/0, Enabled, Physical link is Up
Interface index: 179, SNMP ifIndex: 610
Type: PTM, Link-level type: Ethernet, MTU: 1514, VDSL mode, Speed: VDSL2
  Device flags : Present Running
  Link flags : None
CoS queues : 8 supported, 8 maximum usable queues
  Current address: d0:07:ca:c5:5e:65
  Last flapped : 2018-01-18 11:43:09 CET (00:33:08 ago)
  Input rate : 0 bps (0 pps)
  Output rate : 0 bps (0 pps)
  VDSL alarms : None
  VDSL defects : None
  VDSL status:
    Modem status : Showtime (Profile-17a)
VDSL profile : Auto Annex B
    Last fail code: None
    Subfunction : 0x00
    Seconds in showtime : 198

2/ However i did discover than the line was VDSL-compatible and the following configuration "almost" work:

set interfaces pt-4/0/0 vlan-tagging
set interfaces pt-4/0/0 mac 00:07:cb:a0:b9:5a
set interfaces pt-4/0/0 vdsl-options vdsl-profile 17a
set interfaces pt-4/0/0 unit 0 vlan-id 836
set interfaces pt-4/0/0 unit 0 family inet dhcp-client

The issue here is that the "set mac" doesn't seem to be working, since show interface pt-4/0/0 still display the initial mac address, but the xDSL provider expect a specific mac address :/

Any suggestions ?

Hardware: SRX345

So, after much back-and-forth with JTAC the "switch to ADSL" issue was "solved" by rebooting the cluster.
