  • 1.  High memory utilisation on NS208

    Posted 03-12-2009 03:49

    Hi

    Ich have build a cluster with 2 NS208 release 5.4.r12. Its a kind of unkonventional configuration with two virtual routers between the virtual routers i have a layer3 link (u-turn between eth2 and eth3) and running 616 Policys... and a lot of client and site to site vpn...

    in the Web gui a high memory utilisation is shown. The Firewalls are not in produktive enviroment now.

    I have read in other post that a high utilisation is shown often a does not nessecerly run in to some troubles.

    Does anybody have the same "problems"?

    regards

    Chris

    Hi

    It could be something to do with your config. I have a vanilla conf but memory is running at about 35% on my box.

    But typically for the NS200s, the 5.4 code requires more memory than any of the older codes.

    If you do not need as much sessions you can try to reduce the session limit to see if that helps eg:

    ns208(M)-> get sess info
    alloc 3/max 64000, alloc failed 0, mcast alloc 0, di alloc failed 0
    total reserved 0, free sessions in shared pool 63997
    ns208(M)->

    ns208(M)-> get envar | i max
    max-session=32000
    ns208(M)->

    Hello,

    I had the same 'problem'. But that isn't realy an issue.
    ScreenOS reserves all memory on boot time, when you have a large configuration you get these high memory usage bars on your webui. But since all memory needed is already reserved this isn't a big issue

    Kind Regards

    Tim
