This is a legacy community with limited Juniper monitoring.

  • 1.  SSG20 Ping to VIP

    I am running an SSG20 with some ip's configured as VIP.

    Is there a possibilty to ping this ip?

    It worked on my 5gt 6.2.0r1 with creating a custom service icmp (type 8 code 0). And create the vip service with the virtual port of 1024 and mapped service the custom created service.

     

    However if possible I would use a MIP.

    In the latest version of code 6.1.r3 you can use MIP and VIP on the same IP. So what you need to do is create a MIP for the ping system, this will allow ping to go in and out to the address. Then create a VIP for the other protocols for the other systems.
