  • 1.  SSG5 DHCP Auto Renew or disconnect?

    Hi all,

     

    I bought a SSG5 for my home using and host the FTP Server.

     

    My ISP is give me DHCP, so before I just plug the computer to the LAN will get a public IP.

     

    Now I am setting up the SSG5 successful by very hard way, since ScreenOS 6.3r10 have a bug.

     

    It said my command error when setting the DHCP from GUI, so I connect the console to the CLI reset it and see this

     

    unsupported command: set interface ent0/0 dhcp client enable.

     

    I then find the the eth0/0 is wrong, much need change to ethernal0/0, then I fix the DHCP client for the WAN now.

     

    Just I want to ask, do SSG5's DHCP is auto reconnect when it idel on 10 minutes or above, and from reboot, disconnect etc? Need addition cli setting to make above setting enalbe? If so, what is the command I need to enter?

     

    Since I want the WAN is ALWAYS ON WAN and auto reconnect when it off and on again.

     

    Sorry too many beginner question.

    The DHCP client will renew on reboot and whenever the interface goes down.  Otherwise it will wait til the end of the lease before it reaches out to the DHCP server again.
