This is a legacy community with limited Juniper monitoring.

  • 1.  Subinterface Number on NS25

    Hi I have two Netscreen 25 with the latest Software Release. But one one I cannot choose a Subinterface Number higher than 4.

    On the other I have Subinterface with VLAN-ID 250.

    Does anybody know why?

    ON a NS25, you're limited to 16 sub-interfaces on the entire box. 

     

    I can create up to 16 sub-interfaces.  When I try to create more, I get error messages:

     

    ns25-> set int eth4.17 tag 4016 zone dmz
    Interface ethernet4 index 17, should be <0 - 16>
                   ^----------unknown keyword eth4.17

     

    ns25-> set int eth3.1 tag 1000 zone untrust
    ###Failed to add vlan (1000) into ethernet3.1

    Note that there is no link between the interface number and the VLAN tag. So you can create an interface named ethernet1.1 and assign it to VLAN 250.

     

    If you can't create sub interfaces at all, the device is probably a baseline model, they have limited functionality.
