multiple transparent paths

‎01-12-2011 10:52 AM

I have an SSG5 in transparent mode using V1-Trust and V2-Trust for two sides of a 10.3.0.0/16 network.  I would like to do the same thing for a 10.1.0.0/16 network, but that network is running on physically different switches, so would need to setup two more ports.  I created two L2-Trust and L2-Untrust zones and added interfaces to them, setup policies, etc, but no traffic is passing.  I think I am missing something, or it can't do it.

To better clarify my goal.  LAN A is a flat 10.1.0.0 network and LAN B is a flat 10.3.0.0 network, running on pyhsically seperate hardware.

Before:

+----------+              +----------+
|  LAN A   |______________|  LAN A   |
| Switch 1 |              | Switch 2 |
+----------+              +----------+

+----------+              +----------+
|  LAN B   |______________|  LAN B   |
| Switch 3 |              | Switch 4 |
+----------+              +----------+

After:

+----------+    +---+     +----------+
|  LAN A   |____| F |_____|  LAN A   |
| Switch 1 |    | I |     | Switch 2 |
+----------+    | R |     +----------+
                | W |
+----------+    | A |     +----------+
|  LAN B   |____| L |_____|  LAN B   |
| Switch 3 |    | L |     | Switch 4 |
+----------+    +---+     +----------+

Hi,

Does the host attached to Switch3 have an arp entry for the host on switch 4?

to see what the firewall is doing with traffic run

set ff src-ip <sw3 client> dst-ip <sw4 client>

cl db

debug flow basic

get db st

When finished run

undebug all

cl db

unset ff

Post the output here for help reading it.

Sam.

I see that the packet is being denied, I will need to take a closer look at the policy.  Right now the system is at my desk in a mockup,  So yes, default password, etc, before anyone critiques me on my config.  Not about to put secure information on this in the publicSmiley Happy  I pasted the config too.

"set policy from L2-A-Trust to L2-A-Untrust any any any permit log"

then lock it down the whatever addresses and services you need.

That's all it was, I goofed when I creted the policy, chose the wronged "trusted".  It is fine now.  Thanks.
