Juniper Introduces Software-Defined Secure Networks

By Erdem posted 03-29-2016 11:13

This month at RSA, we introduced the evolution of network security, the Software-Defined Secure Network (SDSN). As the scale and sophistication of threats continue to increase, next-generation security must be built around automated and actionable intelligence that can be shared quickly to reduce risk, protecting the network and its users. Juniper’s Software-Defined Secure Network delivers end-to-end network visibility that secures the entire network, physical and virtual. We deliver building blocks for the Software-Defined Secure Network that combines policy, detection, and enforcement with a comprehensive suite of products that centralizes and automates security. Check out the links under the resources section for more information.

Last week at OFC, we announced enhanced optical controls in Junos Space Connectivity Services Director and NorthStar SDN Controller, as well as new optical integration on PTX Series core routers and MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers at OFC. This allows for multilayer convergence to improve IP traffic scale and control for both data center interconnect and metro-area networks, thereby lowering operational expense and creating a foundation for both physical and virtual service creation.

This month's featured content highlights Vodafone Group on recognizing Juniper as an outstanding strategic partner, Saudi Telecom Company selecting Juniper to build the largest internet gateway in the Middle East and Telefonica Spain's transformation with new core network from Juniper.

Saudi Telecom Company (STC) Selects Juniper Networks Technology to Build and Deploy the Largest Internet Gateway Backbone in the Middle East

Saudi Telecom Company (STC), the largest telecommunications company by market capitalization, total revenue and number of employees in the Arab world, has for the first time in the region deployed Juniper Networks® PTX5000 Series Packet Transport Routers to expand its fixed and mobile Internet backbone. The new backbone will enable STC to handle services and functions that can scale seamlessly in order to keep pace with growing customer demand. The expansion project is designed to provide ultra-high speed Internet access to 3G/4G and fixed subscribers in many locations throughout the Middle East. In addition to the PTX Series, the project also includes Juniper's SDN-ready MX2020 3D Universal Edge Router, the industry's highest throughput edge router. This choice of systems was especially valuable to STC, as the company was able to easily integrate the new equipment running on the Juniper Networks Junos® operating system without disruption to existing network operations.

Eng. Nasser Al Nasser at Saudi Telecom Company said, "we invest in our network to stay ahead of our customers' ever increasing expectations for more bandwidth and new applications and services. Juniper's innovative technologies allow us to maintain our market leadership and future-proof our business through the deployment of state-of-the-art technologies. This is an impressive leap forward in network capacity and performance to meet customer expectations."

Telefonica Spain Progresses Digital Service Transformation With New High-Performance Core Network From Juniper Networks

Telefónica Spain has selected Juniper Networks® MX Series 3D Routers to provide a high performance, intelligent SDN control, service rich core network for Fusión Network. The MX2020 will provide Telefónica Spain the multi-terabit IP/MPLS routing capacity and connectivity across all metro regions as traffic ingress and egress from all of Telefónica's Internet Exchange locations. The new core network is extensible to address service interconnectivity for the Internet, content providers, content delivery networks (CDNs) and data centers relying on Telefónica's national infrastructure.

This new decision by Telefónica Spain, together with the announcement made in September 2015 that Juniper Networks was chosen by Telefónica Spain to provide the next-generation IP/MPLS metro services delivery infrastructure for Fusión Network, affirms that just a single product family, the MX Series, covers the entire Fusión Network. This is a significant contribution to Telefónica Spain's network simplification strategy.
