As I have mentioned in the past, US Defense Department policy requires that products used in DoD networks must be selected from the Unified Capabilities Approved Product list (UC APL).
Products on the UC APL have demonstrated that they meet a demanding set of DoD Information Assurance and Interoperability requirements. These requirements are contained in the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and in the Unified Capabilities Requirements (UCR) 2013.
I am pleased to report that the portfolio of Juniper Networks switching products on the UC APL continues to grow. DISA has added the QFX3500 and QFX3600 switches and the EX9200 to the UC APL.
These switches represent a new generation of UC APL approved switches. The Assured Services Local Area Network (ASLAN) is no longer just about connectivity. This is the era of the Joint Information Environment (JIE). Networks are simply required to do more. In a challenging era of exploding bandwidth requirements, shifting missions, concepts of operations, and declining budgets, the DoD, like many other mission-critical organizations needs solutions which bring Cloud builder like scale and performance as well High IQ flexibility and adaptability.
The QFX3500 and QFX3600 are the first data center optimized, 1U, top of rack switches that have 40Gbps certified interfaces on the APL. The EX9200 is the industry’s most programmable switch. The EX9200 was also certified for 40Gbps as well as for Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS). All three support Puppet for workflow automation.
