The US Department of Defense Certifies more Juniper Networks EX Switches

Recently, Juniper Networks EX4300 Ethernet Switches were certified by the US Department of Defense for use as an Assured Services Local Area Network (ASLAN) in the roles of core, distribution, or access. This was a first time certification for the EX4300. The EX4300 devices are certified with Junos 13.2 software and are certified as stand-alone devices or in a virtual chassis configuration.

The EX4200 and the EX4500 were recertified, with the recertification adding the EX4550. This certification, like the EX4300 was for use as a core, distribution, or access ASLAN. I discussed the previous EX4500 and EX4200 certification here. These devices were certified in stand-alone and in virtual chassis configurations. The EX4200, EX4500, and EX4550 were specifically tested and certified in a mixed virtual chassis configuration, a level of flexibility that is unique to Juniper EX devices. You can interconnect up to ten total EX4200, EX4500, and EX4550 switches into a mixed virtual Chassis. Any switch can be configured in any role in any configuration.

Products certified as ASLANs are required to meet a demanding set of requirements that focus on high availability, dual stack IPv4/IPv6, quality of service, information assurance, and support of the open network standards used by the US Department of Defense.
